Force Options - Use of Force and De-Escalation

This instructor course addresses federal and statewide standards, the duty to intercede, supervisor responsibility, and agency policy as it relates to use of force by law enforcement. The course incorporates elements of cognitive bias, mental and physical disabilities, and de-escalation to prepare instructors to teach use of force courses that are compliant with the training mandates contained in CPC § 13519.10, GC § 7286. Students completing this course are eligible to teach use of force in the POST Basic Course and also the Use of Force PSP courses.

This course satisfies the Use of Force Instructor training requirement contained on CCR § 1070. 

Upon completion, students will acquire the knowledge, skills, and teaching material to instruct the 8-hour Use of Force PSP and the 4-hour Use of Force PSP courses, and Learning Domain 20 in the POST Basic Course. This course is also informative for instructors teaching other manipulative and force option courses.

Students are required to bring a laptop and power cord for this course.

Registration

Classes can fill quickly, we recommend registering as early as possible. Have your training department call (562) 985-4940 or email the Center for Criminal Justice to reserve a spot. Click Request for Training to send your request.

You will receive a confirmation email letting you know that we have registered you for the class. Reservations are on a first come first serve basis, a waitlist will be established once the maximum number of students has been met.
