POST Management Course - Credit for Prior Learning

Graduates of the POST Management Course have the ability to earn 6 units of upper division undergraduate credits or 3 units of upper division graduate credits upon completion of the course through ºÚÁÏÍø's Credit for Prior Learning (CPL).  The units are not automatically given, you must register with the Center for Criminal Justice.

Credit for prior learning recognizes that learning occurs through various experiences beyond traditional classroom settings.  As a result, ºÚÁÏÍø offers CPL opportunities that make it possible to earn academic credit for knowledge and skill acquired outside of formal education. 

You must have completed the the POST Management Course. Notify the course coordinator of your interest in these credits when you complete the course.  Graduates of the course will meet with the Credit for Prior Learning coordinator. In this process you’ll be provided with an application for credit.  Only current PMC students are eligible for this credit. 

  • The ºÚÁÏÍø Credit for Prior Learning coordinator meets with the student and confirms that they are an eligible graduate of the program.
  • An application is completed by the graduate and the required fees are submitted.
  • The student meets with a faculty member to complete the Prior Learning Assessment.

Applicants are eligible for one of two options:

  • Six upper division undergraduate units in two courses (You must register for both courses. They cannot be split.)
    • Three units in CRJU 490: Management
    • Three units in CRJU 490: Advanced Management.
  • Three upper division graduate units in CRJU 690: Graduate Management.

The cost per unit is $165. The total cost for the undergraduate credit is $990.  The total cost for graduate credit is $495. 

No. Past graduates are not eligible to earn these credits.  Eligibility is only available in the academic year that you attended the POST Management Course.

No, you cannot earn undergraduate and graduate level credit for the same course.

Yes, college transcripts are available at the end of the semester term through ºÚÁÏÍø Enrollment Services. These are ºÚÁÏÍø units and they are fully transferable.
