Kayla Patterson
Kayla Patterson is a lecturer in the Anthropology department at California State University, Long Beach. She earned her master's degree in Anthropology from California State University, Long Beach. Her research explores the adaptive strategies used by patients navigating chronic illness, such as diabetes, that develop in response to limited access to healthcare. Using the lens of structural violence, she investigates the systemic barriers that shape patients’ healing journeys and the various strategies that are employed to address their health needs.
