Bus Parking & Drop-Off Guide

There are designated areas in lots and across campus designed for large vehicles, such as buses, to maneuver safely and efficiently. Please review the information below before arriving to campus with a bus. 

Pick-Up and Drop-Off 

Our campus has two drop-off/pick up locations for buses: 

  1. In in front of the LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid
  2. In by the Carpenter Performing Arts Center

Buses must unload passengers within 30 minutes and continue to the designated parking lots or find accommodations off campus to ensure the areas are clear for emergency vehicles or other buses dropping off passengers. 

NOTE: Do not drop off students at the , located near the GO BEACH sign. This area is reserved for Long Beach Transit Buses and ºÚÁÏÍø Shuttle Buses ONLY.

Parking on Campus

Buses may only park in and , as these are large and the least impacted to allow buses enough space to maneuver efficiently and safely. There are no large or designated stalls for buses, drivers may park perpendicular to stalls where they find accommodation. Please note parking is not guaranteed in these lots.  All buses with non-exempt license plates require permits to park on campus. 

Directions

To G11 Drop off Location:

  1. Turn on to Campus via Merriam Way.
  2. Turn left into G11, using the entrance located before the parking structure on the left-hand side.
  3. Turn left again into the first lane in front of the LBS Pyramid.
  4. Drop off passengers in front of the LBS Pyramid.
    1. NOTE: Buses must unload passengers within 30 minutes to ensure the areas are clear for emergency vehicles or other buses dropping off passengers.
  5. Exit the parking lot via Merriam Way.
  6. Continue to the designated bus parking lots, or , or find parking off campus.
    1. NOTE: There are no large or designated stalls for buses, drivers may park perpendicular to stalls where they find accommodation. Please note parking is not guaranteed in these lots. Buses with California exempt license plates may park free of charge, all other buses require permits to park on campus.

To G12 Drop off Location

  1. Turn on to Campus at the entrance to the Carpenter Performing Arts Center on Atherton St.
  2. Turn right into G12.
  3. Turn left in to the first lane closest to the lawn.
  4. Drop off passengers.
    1. NOTE: Buses must unload passengers within 30 minutes to ensure the areas are clear for emergency vehicles or other buses dropping off passengers.
  5. Continue to the designated bus parking lots, or , or find parking off campus. OR Continue to the left to exit G12.

    1. NOTE: There are various routes to Exit the parking lot.

    To park in G13, turn right after exiting G12. Then Pass the Palo Verde North Parking Structure and turn left into G13.

    1. NOTE: There are no large or designated stalls for buses, drivers may park perpendicular to stalls where they find accommodation. Please note parking is not guaranteed in these lots.  Buses with California exempt license plates may park free of charge, all other buses require permits to park on campus.

Permits

School buses with California exempt license plates may park free of charge. All other buses such as charter buses will need to purchase the $75 bus permit from the dispensers. The driver of the bus can choose to find parking off campus.

Important Dates to Note:

Parking at ºÚÁÏÍø is heavily impacted during the Spring and Fall Academic semesters. To ensure the university is prioritizing student parking, we ask that you do not schedule tours or campus visits during the event moratorium or finals week in adherence to the following polices. Please review Scheduling and Registration Polices for additional information. Consult the ºÚÁÏÍø Academic Calendar for specific dates. 

Event Moratorium 

There is a moratorium on events that required additional parking during the first five weeks of each semester, Monday through Thursday. 

No Events During Finals Week

There shall be no scheduling of student organization activities or programs during the University final examination period.  Non-students and non-student organizations may be permitted to host events and activities during the final examination period, depending on the availability of campus facilities.

There are two locations where buses can drop-off passengers. 1) In Lot G11 in front of the LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid and 2) in Lot G12 by the Carpenter Performing Arts Center.

Bus Permits may be purchased from parking dispensers located in lots. Bus permits are located on the second page of options on the dispenser, use the buttons as indicated to scroll to and select "Bus Permit." The bus parking rate is $75.00
