The Global Studies Department at California State University, Long Beach equips students to think critically, act ethically, and work inclusively across cultures to confront the challenges of our time and imagine more just futures.
Who We Are
The Department of Global Studies prepares globally minded graduates with the skills, experience, and vision to shape a changing world, embodying ºÚÁÏ꿉۪s commitment to globally informed, high-impact education. Our interdisciplinary curriculum equips students to examine complex issues from multiple perspectives, cultivating both broad awareness and sharp analytical skills that set our graduates apart.
Our faculty draw on political economy, critical theory, cultural analysis, labor and migration studies, sociology, environmental studies, and international development. Students gain hands-on experience through internships and study abroad, while our low student-to-faculty ratio ensures personalized mentorship that supports academic growth and career readiness.
We foster a learning environment that drives student success and enables social mobility. Our graduates—now working in diplomacy, development, law, government, non-profits, media, education, and beyond—demonstrate the power of a globally engaged education. Many continue their studies at leading graduate programs and make meaningful contributions both locally and internationally.
