For in-person appointments, students can expect to visit the Shakarian Student Success Center in office SSSC-245 (second floor). At the UWC, in-person sessions are conducted in one of the available cubicles at the designated appointment time, equipped with a desktop computer, keyboard, notepad, pens, and fidget toys to combat nervousness.  

A typical in-person session begins with our front desk staff at the front of the office. Upon entering the UWC, our front desk staff will welcome incoming students, ask for appointment information (including name and campus ID), and formally “check-in” the appointment in the Beach Connect system. 

All appointments will begin on the hour, in which a tutor will come to the waiting area to greet their student and guide them to a cubicle for the tutorial session.

For online appointments, students can expect to use the official UWC Zoom link, provided in the appointment confirmation email and available on our website.  

At the UWC, online sessions are conducted in a breakout room with your UWC tutor, in which Zoom functions like screen sharing, whiteboard feature, and Zoom chat can be utilized to ensure a collaborative and effective session. 

A typical online session begins with our front desk staff upon logging onto the official UWC Zoom. Our front desk staff will welcome incoming students, ask for appointment information (including name and campus ID), and formally “check-in” the appointment in the Beach Connect system. 

All appointments will begin on the hour, in which the front desk staff will invite you to a Zoom breakout room to join your tutor for the tutorial session.
