Not Alone @ The Beach: Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) Training

Since 2015, we at NATB have developed a dynamic model of prevention that engages all campus members in the effort to make our campus free from sexual assault.  The Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) program (see ) is central to this effort.  MVP Strategies—an international leader in the field of bystander education—conducts one-day leadership trainings for ºÚÁÏÍø campus opinion leaders and influencers.  MVP is foundationally intersectional and works with people of all genders. But it is perhaps best known in the prevention field for its pioneering work with young men—including those in the sports and fraternity sub-cultures. The highly interactive MVP training experience—typically led by a two-person team that is racially integrated and mixed gender—introduces participants to the MVP philosophy and its teaching/mentoring methods.  Attending the one-day leadership training provides student leaders with background knowledge about sexual assault and relationship abuse, and effective tools for acting as empowered bystanders. Just as importantly, the training offers student leaders who participate concrete strategies for raising awareness and instigating change in their spheres of influence.  The training is free to ºÚÁÏÍø student leaders and earns full credit for students in the Leadership Academy.
Lunch and snacks will be provided during the training.
