Center Overview
Mission
To bring together faculty, students, and community partners to develop creative solutions for diverse aging populations through education and research.
Vision
To serve as a leader in community engagement, workforce development, and applied research to address disparities and promote quality of life in aging in Long Beach and beyond.
The Center for Successful Aging (CSA) is an interdisciplinary applied research center working collaboratively with community partners and faculty.
Research
Our research is driven by faculty and community strengths and interests, including promoting age-friendly communities, reducing disparities, and promoting well-being. By designing and evaluating scalable interventions in key areas of faculty expertise and community interests, our goal is to enable diverse older adults to remain engaged and active in their communities.
Community Engagement
CSA also serves as a community resource, providing information and services through our Speaker Series, Resources Page, and engagement with community partners.
Workforce Development
CSA is working towards preparing today and tomorrow’s workforce to meet the needs of a growing and culturally diverse population of older adults. Through our internship program we offer both undergraduate and graduate students with research and service-learning opportunities to provide them with greater awareness and skills to work in the field of aging.
