Library department updates from Spring 2025

Access Services hosted its most successful finals programming yet, with over 740 participants in activities themed 鈥淒etective Instincts鈥 and 670 survey responses guiding future event planning. The team also made significant progress on the WaveMaker pop-up makerspace and celebrated multiple staff receiving the University鈥檚 鈥淏est of the Beach鈥 award for exceptional service.

Technical Services enhanced resource access and efficiency through major projects, including integrating CSU Learns professional development content into the catalog, improving catalog records, downsizing and relocating the Reference collection, and expanding single sign-on access to most major databases. New AI usage indicators were added to the A鈥揨 Databases list, and collaboration with the University Bookstore now highlights freely available eBooks for assigned courses, saving students money.

Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA) hosted a robust schedule of class visits, expanded zine workshops into two Women鈥檚, Gender & Sexuality Studies courses. The department advanced significant collection improvements, pursued emergency preparedness funding, and began building a 黑料网 LGBTQIA+ Resource Center and Community Archive to increase representation in University Archives.

Research and Information Services introduced a refreshed instruction space (LIB-409) with upgraded technology and flexible seating, piloted a self-scheduling system for reference shifts, and shared new faculty-created resources, including a Self-Publishing guide by Alexis Pavenick. Committees continued to adapt purchasing strategies in response to budget constraints while fostering innovative service models.
