Program Structure

The Office of the President facilitates the President’s Ambassadors Program and provides direction, coordination, training, and support for Ambassador activities. The Program Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for questions, event assignments, attendance updates, meeting materials, and program expectations.

  • Recruitment and Selection: Annual recruitment and application process coordinated by the Office of the President.
  • Orientation and Onboarding: Orientation and onboarding are an essential launch point for the President’s Ambassadors Program, giving Ambassadors the foundation, confidence, and shared understanding they need to represent the University with a high degree of professionalism and pride. This experience introduces program expectations, event protocols, campus knowledge, professional standards, and program responsibilities, and it is part of each Ambassador’s commitment to the program. As part of onboarding, all President’s Ambassadors will read the President’s Ambassadors Handbook and sign an acknowledgment confirming they have read, understand, and agree to follow the expectations, responsibilities, standards of conduct, and program requirements. Ambassadors will also sign a photo release form so the University may use appropriate photos or video from official program activities, events, assignments, and related communications.
  • Introductory Semester: New Ambassadors begin with an introductory period during their first semester and are paired with a President’s Ambassador mentor. During this period, students participate in meetings, training, and selected events while learning program expectations and campus event protocols.
  • Advancement to Official Ambassador: Students are not considered official President’s Ambassadors until their second semester in the program. Upon successful completion of the introductory semester and approval by the Office of the President, students may advance to official President’s Ambassador status and become eligible for assignments that require full program standing.
  • Meetings: Mandatory monthly meetings to review upcoming events, coordinate assignments, and strengthen connection with the President and Office of the President team. Additional or more frequent meetings may be scheduled when needed for training, planning, event preparation, or coordination.
  • Service Commitment: Ambassadors are expected to maintain an active and consistent service presence throughout each semester by regularly supporting presidential, campus, and department-sponsored events; attending required meetings and trainings; and responding to event needs as assigned by the Office of the President. This role requires a significant commitment that must be balanced with academic studies. Students who are already participating in other time-intensive programs or work schedules should carefully consider whether they can prioritize the President’s Ambassadors Program before applying.
  • Scheduled In-Office Event Support: Each Ambassador will have required in-office support time as part of the overall service commitment. Ambassadors must sign up for a minimum of three in-office event support activities such as specific events, escorts, or other assignments in advance. each semester. On the date of the event, Ambassadors are expected to report to the Office of the President at least 15 minutes before their work assignment begins, check in with the Program Coordinator or Office of the President team, and check out with the Program Coordinator or Office of the President team upon completion of the assignment.
  • Training and Leadership Development: The Office of the President will provide appropriate training to prepare Ambassadors to be successful in their roles. Training may include campus services, hospitality, communication, public engagement, event support, presidential protocol, professional expectations, and other topics needed to support Ambassadors’ service and development.
