First-Year Experiences

Welcome First-Year and Transfer students! The College of Engineering believes it's vital to welcome you into our campus community, and give you the tools to successfully navigate your first year on campus. Each month, we host a variety of events and workshops targeted to help you connect with other students, while learning tips and tricks to thrive at The Beach.

  • Friday, September 11th | Time: 11-1pm | Location: EN2 – 302D (Tutoring Center):
    Slice to Meet You. Welcome Pizza Party – come and meet your First-Year coordinator at the COE Tutoring Center!
     
  • Thursday, September 17th | Time: 1-2pm | Location: EN2 – 304 (Engineering Student Success Center): 
    Transfer & Thrive. Calling all Transfer Students! Learn about making sure you are on track to graduate with our easy checklist.
     
  • Tuesday, September 22nd | Time: 2- 3 pm | Location: ECS 312 (Niggli Conference Center): 
    Level Up with LEGOS. Join us for a Lego Build with the Office of Professional Development & Internships to learn about career readiness steps you can take now.

    Picture Your Purpose. Find your purpose by making vision boards. Collage a beautiful piece of art for your room to inspire you every day.
     
  • Friday, October 30th | Time: 12-2pm | EN2 – 302D (Tutoring Center): 
    Trick-or-Charm. Enjoy some Halloween candy and make a bag charm for your backpack.

    Junk Journal. Make a Junk Journal to organize your thoughts, goals, & dreams.
     
  • Thursday, November 12th | Time: 12-2pm | Location: EN2 – 312 (Niggli Conference Center):  
    Final Stretch Success. Join us to de-stress and learn some helpful tips for a successful end to the semester.
     
  • Wednesday, November 18th | Time: 11-1pm | Location: EN2 – 312 (Niggli Conference Center):  
    Game On & Grateful. Stop by to play board games, grab a bite to eat, express gratitude and meet other first-year and transfer students.
