Beach XP
A Community for First-Time, First-Year Students
Beach XP (Beach Experience) is a first-year student community designed to support the transition of incoming first-time, first-year students into college life. The program fosters academic success, peer connection, and personal growth through collaborative learning, career exploration, and community engagement.
The program is offered in two unique pathways:
- All incoming students, are cohorted by college to access the Beach XPerience Hub – a self-paced, interactive Canvas experience packed with tools, tips, and real talk to help students thrive at The Beach.
- Some students may also be a part of a cohorted model with at least one class, supported by a tight-knit community of peers from their college.
Beach XP emphasizes connection, exploration, and support, creating a foundation for academic achievement and meaningful college experiences.
Each college's Beach XP pathway will be unique, but many programs will feature:
- Exclusive access to first-time, first-year podcast
- Full-service learning hub through Canvas
- Personalized contact with professors
- Social activities to choose from
- Connection with campus resources
- College-specific cohorts
- Smaller class sizes
- Mentorship and tutoring opportunities

Beach XP is open and free to all newly admitted first-time, first-year students at ºÚÁÏÍø.
All students will be enrolled into the Beach XPerience Learning Hub while students in the cohorted model with at least one class will also be enrolled in designated courses that count toward their general education or major-specific requirements.
Criteria for joining Beach XP may vary by college but students who have already completed one or more of the courses offered should note they will not be eligible to participate in this option of the program.
Beach XP aims to provide first-time, first-year students with tools to lay the foundation for success at ºÚÁÏÍø.
Participating students can look forward to the following benefits:
- Building your peer network and getting to know the campus together
- Full-service Beach XP hub through Canvas
- First Year Navigator Badge, a credential that can be linked to your LinkedIn Profile
- Gaining support navigating important first-year requirements
- Receiving personalized guidance and connections to campus resources
- Participating in hosted social activities and skill-building opportunities
If you are student in the cohorted model with at least one class, you will also have the opportunity to participate in an activity hour, which may meet once or twice per week in person or be entirely asynchronous online.
