Overview of Dr. Murphy’s Research:

Dr. Chantrey J. Murphy began her appointment here at ������ in Fall 2016. She received her B.A. at Winthrop University (SC), her M.A. at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and her Ph.D. at Texas A&M University, each in Sociology. Since joining the department, Dr. Murphy has taught sections of Social Psychology (SOC 335) and Quantitative Methods of Social Research (SOC 355). Her research interests center on remedying disparate and unequal outcomes that happen during interpersonal (micro) settings. In the area of Social Psychology, Dr. Murphy uses experimental methodology to examine how routine face-to-face interactions contribute to, and also work against, inequality. She is also continuing her research in Criminology that focuses on understanding how a person’s gender presentation might be linked to experiences with aggression and victimization.
