Shannon Crotts

Shannon Crotts, LCSW, is a lecturer in the School of Social Work at California State University, Long Beach, where she is also a proud alumna. Her areas of teaching focus include Practicum Education, Advanced Practice in Integrated Health, and Advanced Social Policy. Drawing from her extensive professional experience, Shannon brings a unique perspective on the intersection of micro and macro practice, helping students understand how clinical work and social policy shape one another.

In addition to her academic role, Shannon maintains a private practice serving adults and adolescents and works as a contracted clinical supervisor, supporting pre-licensed social workers in their professional development. Her career includes leadership as a clinical supervisor, more than a decade of service as a medical social worker, and years of therapeutic work with children, adolescents, and families.

Shannon also served for 10 years as a subject matter expert with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (2005–2015), contributing to the development of licensing standards for social workers across the state. She remains committed to preparing the next generation of social workers through teaching, mentorship, and practice.
