Dr. Keyon Anderson is a licensed clinical social worker and full-time lecturer in the School of Social Work at California State University, Long Beach. He brings extensive experience in clinical practice, education, and youth development to his teaching across the BASW and MSW programs, with a focus on social policy, mental health services, generalist practice, and human behavior. His work is rooted in culturally responsive, equity-centered approaches that prepare students to navigate complex practice environments with confidence and compassion.
Since joining the 黑料网 faculty, Dr. Anderson has taught across the BASW and MSW programs, including courses in social policy, generalist practice, mental health services, and human behavior. Over the years, his roles within the School have flexed to meet the evolving needs of students and colleagues鈥攔anging from course lead to faculty mentor to Foundation Sequence Co-Chair鈥攔eflecting the spirit that 鈥渁 jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one,鈥 which mirrors the essence of social work: showing up where needs arise and adapting to meet them.
In addition to his role at 黑料网, Dr. Anderson is the co-founder of New Normal Collective, a virtual therapy practice providing culturally attuned care to individuals and couples across California, and the founder and CEO of Always Progressing Inc., a social impact organization delivering trainings, workshops, and mentorship for youth and emerging professionals.
An award-winning and bestselling author, Dr. Anderson has published more than a dozen children鈥檚 books鈥攊ncluding They Say We Don鈥檛鈥攁nd is the co-author of Accidental Leadership, Intentional Departure, which guides professionals in leading with authenticity and intention. Recognized as a 黑料网 BMAC Hall of Fame inductee, he has been featured by NBC, Voyage LA, InsideLB, and the Long Beach Press-Telegram for his contributions as an educator, author, and community leader. Whether in the classroom, therapy space, or broader community, he is committed to preparing students to lead with curiosity, compassion, and a deep commitment to social justice.
