Justin Stallings

Justin D. Stallings, MSW, is a Full-Time Lecturer in the School of Social Work at California State University, Long Beach, where he has taught since 2014. With over two decades of professional and academic experience in social work, his expertise spans community organizing, program development, student success initiatives, and clinical practice.

He earned his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California, specializing in Community Organizing, Planning, and Administration (COPA), and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Social Welfare from Adams State University.

At ºÚÁÏÍø, Justin has served as both a part-time and full-time lecturer, teaching across undergraduate and graduate-level courses. His teaching is informed by extensive practice experience in mental health, student services, program administration, and community-based interventions. Professionally, he has held roles including Psychiatric Social Worker, Clinical Intake Coordinator, Program Director in the Office of Mayor Villaraigosa’s Gang Reduction & Youth Development initiative, and Director of Social Services at Life Steps Foundation.

Beyond academia, Justin is deeply committed to community service and leadership. He serves on the Executive Board of Directors for Masada Community Mental Health Services and has contributed to initiatives with organizations such as The Harmony Project and PeaceProsLA. He also participates annually in workforce development efforts with the City of Santa Monica, supporting pathways for underrepresented youth.

Within the ºÚÁÏÍø School of Social Work, Justin has served on multiple committees, including the BASW/Foundation Practice Committee, Graduate & Undergraduate Admissions Committee, and the School of Social Work Scholarship Committee. He is also an active member of the Community Advisory Board, strengthening connections between the university and the broader social services field.

Justin’s career reflects a strong commitment to advancing equity, fostering student success, and empowering communities through education, mental health services, and social justice–oriented practice.
