Julie O'Donnell
Dr. O’Donnell’s areas of expertise include school social work, community schools, out-of-school programs, community mobilization, child welfare and prevention of challenging adolescent behaviors. She has been the principal investigator on multiple grants funded by organizations such as the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, De-Witt Wallace Reader’s Digest Foundation, California Department of Child Abuse Prevention, James Irvine Foundation, California Community Foundation, Stuart Foundation, and the U. S. Department of Education. For over 30 years, Dr. O’Donnell served as the Director of Research for the ºÚÁÏÍø Child Welfare Training Center and as the ºÚÁÏÍø Research Representative for the University Consortium for Children and Families. Partnering with community agencies, she has written or co-written over $30 million in grants, to develop, provide and evaluate services to diverse children, youth. families and schools in the downtown Long Beach Community.
