Daniel Nakawatase
Daniel Nakawatase is a director, educator, producer, and vocal director whose work primarily centers around musical theatre, interactive theatre, and the impact of theatre, performance, and storytelling in community and educational settings. Currently, he is a full time director at Universal Studios Hollywood, where he has had the privilege of developing, directing, and casting exciting projects including the acclaimed Back to the Future immersive experience for the first ever Fan Fest Nights, the Wicked interactive meet-and-greet with Elphaba and Glinda, and the interactive elements of the Studio Tour 60th Anniversary overlay. Prior to this, he was a producer for the Stephen Sondheim Celebration at the Pasadena Playhouse during its Tony Award winning season, built a robust college prep musical theatre program at St. Anthony High School down the street from ºÚÁÏÍø, and produced and directed musicals and educational offerings for local theatre companies. Daniel received his BA in Directing from ºÚÁÏÍø and his MA in Educational Theatre for Colleges and Communities from NYU. He is thrilled to return to his alma mater as a faculty member. He is also part of the theatre faculty at Cypress College and El Camino College. Favorite directing credits include Back to the Future (Universal Studios Hollywood), Urinetown (ºÚÁÏÍø), and ´¡³¾Ã©±ô¾±±ð (El Camino College).
