Outstanding Staff Award Nominations

The annual Staff Council Outstanding Staff Award recognizes a ºÚÁÏÍø staff member who demonstrates exceptional engagement and commitment to supporting the campus staff community and the mission of Staff Council. 

Eligible nominees are not required to be members of Staff Council. Any staff member with at least (5) five years of full-time employment on the ºÚÁÏÍø campus is eligible for the award, including:

  • University (non-MPP) staff
  • Beach Shops staff
  • ºÚÁÏÍø Foundation staff
  • Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) staff

Nomination Requirements

Nominators may recommend only one candidate and may come from any member of staff, faculty, students or administrators, including self-nominations. Nominations may not be submitted by members of the Staff Council Outstanding Staff Award Selection Committee. See our amazing past award recipients!

  1. Online Nomination Form due by 5pm on March 13, 2026:
     
  2. Description of Contributions: In the section provided on the Nomination Form, include your statement supporting the nominee’s qualifications not to exceed 500 words. Please describe the nominee's contributions in support of fellow staff, the staff community, and/or ºÚÁÏÍø's Staff Council. This may include contributions that take place both in the course of the nominee's regular duties as well as outside of normal job responsibilities. (e.g., a combination of ºÚÁÏÍø campus-wide committee work, supporting campus events, etc.).

The recipient of the Outstanding Staff Award will be honored at events throughout the year. Ideally, the recipient will:

  • Attend the June ºÚÁÏÍø campus award ceremony to receive award, if available
  • Provide photos to be featured on university website and marquis
  • Attend Summer and Spring Staff Days, if possible, to be recognized
  • Serve as judge for Spooktacular
  • Serve on Outstanding Staff Award Committee for the following year

The Selection Committee will be comprised of the following ºÚÁÏÍø members:

  • Immediate past Staff Council Outstanding Staff Award recipient (if unavailable, an alternate past recipient may serve)
  • One (1) staff emeriti/ae (if available)
  • The Associated Students, Inc. (or designee) President
  • One (1) Staff Council representative elected by Staff Council
  • One (1) faculty member chosen by the Academic Senate Executive Committee

Nominations may not be submitted by members of the Staff Council Outstanding Staff Award Selection Committee. The Selection Committee will choose the final awardee.
