Hey! I'm Alyssa (she/her) and I'm a third-year Aerospace Engineering student here at the beach. When I'm not second-guessing my academic choices, you can catch me at a random K-pop or R&B concert with a diet coke in my hand. I also enjoy playing games and eating out with friends during my off hours. Oh, and I play taiko! I hope everyone has an amazing year and I can't wait to connect with all of you through posts, reels, and everything in between.
Rachel Bauer
Peer Mentor
Hello everyone! My name is Rachel, and I am a Speech-Language Pathology major entering my third year here at ºÚÁÏÍø. Although I attend school in Long Beach, I am originally from the Central Valley. Some of my favorite hobbies include horseback riding, hiking, crafting, and playing outdoor games. I also love Star Wars, scrapbooking, and cooking and baking! I am excited to be a part of the MAPS team again this year! I look forward to getting to know everyone and being someone students can come to for support, advice, or even just someone to talk to. I hope I can help make navigating college a little easier and share some of the things I’ve learned along the way. I’m looking forward to meeting you all and having a great year together!
Sofia Garcia
Peer Mentor
Hey! My name is Sofia (she/her) and I’m in my 4th (and final) year of undergrad at Long Beach. I am majoring in social work and minoring in sociology with plans to get my master’s degree and become a licensed practitioner in the future. Even as a commuter student, I’ve tried to make the most of my time at The Beach by getting involved in campus clubs and events. In my free time, I love live music and theatre, so I always welcome recommendations! This is my second year as a MAPS Peer Mentor and I’m looking forward to help you all navigate your first-year here with all the good (or bad) experiences that come with it. :D
Maray Morales
Peer Mentor
Hi! I’m Maray Morales, but you can also call me May or Ray! I’m a Math Education student at ºÚÁÏÍø who loves working with others and making people feel supported and welcomed. Outside of school and MAPS, I enjoy reading books, playing piano, watching YouTube, anime, and movies, and traveling and spending time with my family, friends, and partner. I’m also a huge cat lover and have two cats, Fluffy and Chinita, who I absolutely love. I’m excited to continue as a MAPS Peer Mentor, where I get to meet new people, help students find the support and resources they need, and hopefully make their college experience a little easier and more enjoyable. :D
Sam Ramos
Peer Mentor
Hello! My name is Sam. I am a transfer student majoring in Psychology and finishing up my minor in Forensic Science. I'm set to graduate in Fall 2026, and I hope to work in human and mental health services in the future. I commute from Anaheim, and in my free time, I like to go to concerts, read, hike, and spend time with friends. I'm also first-generation, so navigating school hasn't always been easy for me, which is why I enjoy peer mentoring! I believe that it's important to have others who support you in life because one small gesture can go a long way. I hope to connect with others, share what I've learned, and hopefully make someone's college experience a little easier!
Emily Robledo
Peer Mentor
Hello! My name is Emily Robledo. I am a Psychology Major with a Minor in Child Development and Family Studies. I have the pleasure of graduating one semester early. I am excited to apply to grad school this fall. I want to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am from Torrance, CA. If you are ever there a good matcha spot is Café Dolce. I love to crochet, the repetition is soothing. I enjoy staying active through things like the gym, soccer, or even dance. Fun fact about myself I have 10 chickens and get fresh eggs weekly however I get nervous to eat them. I am grateful to be able to support you through your first year at LB. One piece of advice I must give is, it never hurts to ask. So, ask away because you aren’t alone in this. Go Beach!
Prisha Lande
Peer Mentor
Hi! My name is Prisha, and I am a 3rd year at Long Beach State. I am a Psychology major and Sociology minor, and an aspiring Counseling Psychologist. I am from the bay area up north, and my hometown is San Ramon. My future aspiration is to have my own private practice as a Counseling Psychologist with a specialization in Mental Health wellness. I love listening to music, I'm not picky but my all-time favorite is Ariana Grande! In my free time, I also love painting. It is a great stress releaser for me whenever life gets busy, and I hope to support the MAPS students through their periods of development with school and accommodate the best I can. This is my first year as a MAPS peer mentor, and I am looking forward to connecting with everyone and fostering a positive environment!
Tirisa Noun
Peer Mentor
Hi everyone! My name is Tirisa (she/her), and I'm a third-year Asian American Studies major on the pre-med track here at ºÚÁÏÍø. I was born and raised in Long Beach but spent a lot of time during my childhood in West Texas. Outside of studying, I love cooking, hiking/travelling, going to the gym, and sleeping.
I love music, especially hip hop, R&B, and Latin music, so if I'm not studying or working, you'll probably find me blasting music on the freeway. Between a gap year and EMT school, I've lived a few different lives before coming back to The Beach — so if you ever want advice, feel free to swing by! As one of your peer mentors this year, I'm super excited to meet you all and be there to guide you throughout your college journey :)
