How To Schedule an Advising Appointment

Liberal Studies students are encouraged to meet one-on-one with an academic advisor at least once per semester to ensure they are making timely progress towards graduation. New students must wait to attend Mandatory Advising before they are eligible for an individual appointment as Mandatory Advising will provide a general overview of the program and university requirements for a degree. After attending mandatory advising, you can schedule an appointment for more individualized and specific advising that is customized based on your individual circumstance.

Follow the steps below to schedule an advising appointment. Appointments are available in-person or via zoom and can be scheduled up to two weeks in advanced.

Step 1: Find the "Beach Connect" button on your single-sign-on

  • Visit sso.csulb.edu and login with your ºÚÁÏÍø Email address and password
  • Find the "Beach Connect" button and this will take you to a new page where you will begin the appointment scheduling process

Step 2: On the top right side of the page, find the button labeled "Get Assistance"

  • If using mobile, you might need to scroll down to find the button

Step 3: Find an Appointment

  1. Under "what type of appointment would you like to schedule" select "Academic Advising."
  2. For "Service" select the service that best matches what you would like to discuss. You can always select "General Academic Advising" or "Degree Progress and Planning" if you are unsure what service you need.
  3. Select your preferred date (Monday - Friday only) and click "Find available times."
  4. You'll be taken to a new page where you can search appointments by staff, modality (in person or zoom) or by first-available.
  5. You'll then see available appointments with various staff advisors. Pick the date and time that works best for you.

Final Step: Review Appointment Details and Confirm

  • Make sure to select the modality - in person or online. If online, an advisor will update the appointment with an appropriate zoom link.
  • in the comments box, add the specific topics you'd like to discuss. This helps your advisor prepare for your appointment accordingly.
