University Intern Credentials are an alternative pathway to earning a California teaching or service credential that links a professional credential preparation program with employment as a beginning teacher, school counselor or school psychologist in a school district. Qualified individuals are authorized to teach on a California Education Specialist, Multiple Subject, Single Subject, School Counselor, or School Psychologist Intern Credential. Through a partnership between the school district/employer and the College of Education, interns complete a state-approved CSU, Long Beach professional education program.

Pupil Personnel Services Intern Credential Information and Requirements:

School Counseling and School Psychology

• Admission to ºÚÁÏÍø's School Counseling or School Psychology Credential Program
• Open file (Link) with the Student Success and Advising Center
• Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Valid CTC Fingerprint Clearance
• Program Coordinator's Approval

Candidates in the School Counseling or School Psychology programs may request an Intern Eligibility Letter to use for seeking employment as a University Intern. Please email us at CED-Credentials@csulb.edu to request a letter. All necessary documentation must be on file in order to receive an evaluation to determine eligibility and receive program approval.

If you receive an offer of employment as a University Intern, the following must be complete:

• A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) must be established between the district/employer and ºÚÁÏÍø. Please check our current list of agreements below. If your district/employer is not listed, please contact the Student Success and Advising Center.

   along with your original offer of employment to the Credential Center.

A ºÚÁÏÍø Credential Analyst will submit an online recommendation for your credential. You will receive an email from CTC directing you to complete your portion of the recommendation/application and payment by logging in to your CTC Educator Profile. This must be completed within five business days of receiving your recommendation email from the CTC.

To continue each semester as a University Intern, you must maintain continuous enrollment in required credential coursework for the duration of the internship, and maintain good standing in the Credential Program and University.
