Donato Center Team of Translators Awarded Flaiano International Prize for Italian Studies
A team of translators from the Clorinda Donato Center for Global Romance Languages and Translation Studies has been awarded the Flaiano International Prize for Italian Studies for their translation The Natural History of a Neapolitan Miracle: The Secret of San Gennaro’s Blood, by Francesco Paolo de Ceglia, Routledge Studies in Cultural History, 2024. The translators, Manuel Romero, Alessandra Balzani, Jaclyn Taylor, and Clorinda Donato have been working as a team, translating academic books from Italian into English over the past two years. We note that the volume recognized by the judges of the Flaiano Prize also won the 2025 prize of the American Association for Italian Studies prize for the best English Translation of an Italian Book-Length Scholarly Work. We would like to thank the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles for its support throughout the submission and evaluation process.
