Alcohol Sales and Service
Forty-Niner Shops, Inc., doing business as Beach Shops (“Beach Shops”), and California State University, Long Beach (“”) are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable venue for public, cultural, educational, entertainment, athletic, and social events.
All alcoholic beverage sales and services must comply with applicable local and state laws, including the California Alcoholic Beverage Control Act and regulations issued by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
Event Types
On-Campus University Events and Intercollegiate Athletics Events
The following events must adhere to these guidelines and require approval through the . Please refer to the Beach Shops Procedures for the Sale or Service of Alcoholic Beverages for more information.
These include:
- Student-Sponsored Events
- University-Sponsored Events: On Campus
- Third-Party Events with Facility Rental
- University Intercollegiate Athletics Events in University-Owned/Operated Facilities

Off-Campus University-Sponsored Events
University-sponsored events held off campus follow a separate approval process and are not subject to the Beach Shops Alcohol Beverage Clearance Form. For more information, please visit the University Risk Management webpage and refer to the Sale or Service of Alcoholic Beverages section.
