Dina Berg, MPA, is a nonprofit executive, educator, and community advocate with over 15 years of experience leading mission-driven organizations and more than a decade of experience teaching in higher education. She is the co-founder and Executive Director of Heart of Ida, a Long Beach–based nonprofit that provides comprehensive, culturally responsive services to low-income older adults, including food security, healthcare access, digital inclusion, and community connection programs. Under her leadership, Heart of Ida has grown into a trusted community institution recognized for its equity-centered approach and strong community partnerships.
Dina is currently teaching in the MPA program, where she brings real-world nonprofit practice directly into the classroom. She has taught graduate-level courses in nonprofit management, grants administration, leadership, and public administration, and is deeply committed to experiential, hands-on learning. She holds a B.A. in Sociology from UCLA and a Master of Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach. Dina regularly mentors students and emerging professionals, helping them navigate career pathways in the nonprofit sector with honesty about both its challenges and its impact.
