José I. Rodríguez, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Cal State, Long Beach.

He is an award-winning social scientist who is an expert in the development, delivery, and decoding of persuasive messages. He has presented more than 40 research papers in the areas of fear-based messages, social obligation, deception, empathy, intercultural communication, and popular culture. His work has appeared on ABC7 Eyewitness News, TEDxºÚÁÏÍø, and KMEX 34 Univision in Los Angeles.

He holds a doctorate in communication from Michigan State University.
