Andrea Calabrese, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of Construction Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering at Cal State Long Beach.

His research focuses on experimental testing, structural dynamics, base isolation, vibration engineering, and the development of low-cost devices for the seismic protection of buildings. This work has been instrumental in developing low-cost seismic isolation systems using recycled rubber and flexible reinforcements to protect buildings in developing regions.

He holds a Ph.D. in Construction Engineering and an M.Sc. in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Naples in Italy.
