Engineering Horizons Seminar Series
Date: Friday, October 24, 2025
Location: ECS 312
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM PDT
Event Description:
We are excited to invite you to our next session of Engineering Horizons, the COE Seminar Series – an initiative designed to highlight faculty research, foster collaborations, and provide insights into securing research funding and mentoring students.
As in the past, each session features two faculty speakers, with 15–20-minute presentations followed by Q&A and discussions. This is a great opportunity to explore ongoing research, funding strategies, and student mentorship approaches within our academic community.
Our featured speakers will be Dr. David Lee and Dr. Laura Sandoval, both from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering:
Dr. Laura Sandoval conducts research on ultra-high temperature ceramic processing and corrosion resistance in low-carbon steel alloys, with particular applications in nuclear waste storage technologies.
Dr. David Lee specializes in spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), with research that includes Mars entry, descent, and landing dynamics, as well as CubeSat-based space mission design and development.
🍴 Lunch, snacks, and drinks will be provided.
📅 Final Fall 2025 seminar date is Friday, November 14
We look forward to your participation in Engineering Horizons!
