ºÚÁÏÍø Computer Engineering Students Develop Autonomous Drone–Rover System for Raytheon Challenge
ºÚÁÏÍø Computer Engineering students designed an integrated autonomous drone and ground rover system for the 2024–2025 Raytheon Autonomous Drone Competition, earning 2nd place in June 2025.
The aerial team built a quadcopter that scanned a field, identified a target marker, and transmitted GPS coordinates. The ground team developed a rover that received those coordinates, navigated autonomously to the site, avoided obstacles, and delivered a payload. Together, the systems demonstrated coordinated air–ground robotics with applications in autonomous delivery, disaster response, and defense.
