Ceremony Day

Bringing ceremonies back to campus, George Allen Field provides a unique and exciting setting to celebrate our graduates’ accomplishments. Hosting commencement at ºÚÁÏÍø once again allows graduates, families, and friends to come together in the heart of our campus community to mark this important milestone.

Students will check in and pick up their GradPass at parking lot E4, next to the pools, and line up outside with their department. At the scheduled start time, process to the field entering through Gates 1 and 2 to the graduate seating section in front of the stage.

There is no charge to park on campus during your ceremony/ies, and parking passes are not required with the exception of Employee/Staff Only lots (E1, E2, etc.). They are NOT free and are subject to ticket and towing.

Rideshare: A designated pick-up and drop-off lane will be available in Lot G11 in front of the Pyramid.

ADA drop off/pick-up:  Located in Palo Verde North, bottom floor. 

We strongly encourage carpooling, as campus access will be impacted.

  • No tailgating permitted.
  • Alcohol is prohibited everywhere on the premises, including parking lots and inside the field.
  • Each student and guest may bring one factory-sealed plastic water bottle (up to 16.9 oz.) or one empty reusable water container.
  • No confetti, air horns, or balloons.
  • Strollers, wagons and umbrellas are not permitted inside the field.

All persons must comply with all venue policies. Purses, bags and backpacks are not permitted, with the exception of (in each case, after proper inspection): 

  • Clear bags (plastic or vinyl) with no obscured interior pockets that do not exceed 12.75" x 6.5" x 12.75".
  • Medical equipment bag.

All attendees are encouraged to keep medically permissible bags to a minimum.

For all ceremonies, grads are seated in the order they process into the stadium by their departments and their degree level (doctoral, masters, then undergraduates).

To ensure a memorable and inclusive experience for our graduating class and their guests, the university leverages the entire venue facility. This allows us to create a family-oriented environment that preserves the significance and celebration of this momentous day.

Each guest ticket grants entry to the field for one person only, and once a ticket is scanned at a gate, it becomes void. We kindly remind you that all guests, including children aged 3 and above, must have a ticket for entry. â€¯Children 2 years old and under must be seated on a guest's lap.

Venue re-entry is not permitted. Once a ticket is scanned, it may not be reused for re-entry. Restroom access is within the secured venue area.

Ceremonies will take place rain or shine. Please be mindful of weather conditions, including sun exposure, heat, or rain, and plan accordingly with hats and/or sunscreen. Wear layered attire suitable for walking around campus and sitting outdoors for over two hours in varying conditions.

Water and other refreshments will be sold inside and around the venue.

For Grads: Graduates will arrive in traditional regalia (cap and gown), available to purchase in-person or online from the Bookstore, and are welcome to decorate their mortar board caps.  Please plan your attire (under regalia) and footwear accordingly for processional and varying weather conditions.

Flower sales and preorder pickup will be available on site. Share in this commencement tradition and preorder your orchid leis and grad bouquets to pick up at campus at any of their tents the day of your ceremony. * Pre-order link.

Additionally, the Beach Shops will also be located throughout campus, as well as inside the field, open before, during, and after the ceremonies. Get your Beach gear and grad gifts at the ceremony, or !
